Sachin Tendulkar Sachin Ramesh Tendulkar (born April 24, 1973) is an Indian cricketer, widely considered to be one of the greatest batsmen of all time. He currently holds the records for the most cumulative runs in One-Day Internationals, and the most number of centuries scored in both One-day Internationals and Test cricket. He made his international debut against Pakistan in 1989 at the age of sixteen, becoming India's youngest Test player. Although primarily a top-order batsman, Tendulkar has often proved to be a useful and effective slow bowler. He received India's highest sporting honour, the Rajiv Gandhi Khel Ratna in the year 1997-1998 and the civilian award Padma Shri in 1999. His cricketing and batting abilities are widely regarded as genius by many stalwarts of the game. For instance, Sir Donald Bradman, the Australian great said of Sachin, "He reminds me of myself". He is affectionately known as The Little Master by his adoring fans.

Batting legend Sachin Tendulkar, while achieving the magical figure of 99 international hundreds during the India-South Africa Group B match in Nagpur, became the first one to score 20 One-day International (ODI) centuries in his home country.

Sachin made an Indian record for most sixes in ODIs, taking his sixes’ tally to 193, bettering Sourav Ganguly’s tally of 190. Shahid Afridi (289) holds a record followed by Sanath Jayasuriya (270) and Sachin Tendulkar (193).
The master blaster has become the first to complete 2,000 runs against South Africa.
Sachin has now complete 2,000 runs against four countries in ODIs - South Africa, Australia, Pakistan, Sri Lanka.

Sachin Tendulkar reached another milestone as he became the highest century maker in World Cup history by scoring his fifth hundred in the prestigious event. The 37 year old Tendulkar reached the landmark during the group B clash against England when he hit a ball off Tim Bresnan for a boundary towards the fine leg region in the first ball of the 35th over.
It was his 47th ODI century and his 98th overall.
Former India captain Sourav Ganguly, current Australia captain Ricky Ponting and his former teammate Mark Waugh, have all scored four World Cup hundreds. With Ganguly and Waugh retired, it is only Ponting who has a chance to match or surpass Tendulkar.
Tendulkar, playing his sixth World Cup, also holds the records for most runs and most half-centuries in the flagship event of the ICC. He has accumulated 1944 runs in 38 matches and has scored 13 fifties so far, followed by Ponting with 1577 runs in 41 matches.

Sachin Tendulkar, became the first batsman in Test cricket’s history to score 50 centuries. Tendulkar achieved the feat when he scored a single off Dale Steyn on the fourth day of the first Test against South Africa in Centurion.
The Little Master has reached the milestone in 175 Tests. Sachin is way ahead of others in the list of most number of centuries. Australian captain Ricky Ponting is a distant second with 39 centuries followed by South African Jacques Kallis who has 38 Test hundreds.
